Internship Programme Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2025 · Lawgistics Australia Pty Ltd

These Terms and Conditions apply to all applicants and participants in Lawgistics Australia internship programmes. By submitting an application or accepting a placement, you agree to be bound by these terms in full.

Role of Lawgistics

Lawgistics acts as a facilitator between interns, host organisations, and universities. We coordinate placements, provide pre-departure support, and maintain relationships with host firms. We do not employ interns unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria may vary by programme and intake. Criteria may include:

  • Satisfactory academic standing as determined by Lawgistics
  • Relevant skills, experience, or professional conduct
  • The correct entry arrangement for Malaysia, confirmed with Lawgistics before flights are booked
  • Any additional requirements specified at the time of application
  • Lawgistics reserves the right to assess eligibility at its discretion.

    Application and Placement Process

Submission of an application does not guarantee placement. The placement process is subject to:

  • Availability of suitable host organisations at the time of your programme
  • Final acceptance decisions made by host organisations, not Lawgistics
  • Programme capacity and intake limits
  • PLEASE NOTE

Lawgistics will make reasonable efforts to place all accepted applicants. However, placement with a specific firm, in a specific practice area, or during a specific period cannot be guaranteed. Host firm availability may change at any time.

    Fees and Cancellation

Programme fees, payment schedules, and cancellation terms are set out in the separate Cancellation Policy available on our website. By accepting a placement, you agree to those terms in addition to these conditions.

Lawgistics does not guarantee refunds in circumstances where a placement is withdrawn due to participant misconduct, non-compliance, or voluntary withdrawal after acceptance.

    No Employment Relationship

Participation in a Lawgistics internship does not create an employment relationship with Lawgistics or with any host organisation. Interns are not entitled to wages, superannuation, leave entitlements, or other employment benefits unless expressly agreed in writing.

    Conduct and Professional Standards

Participants are expected to maintain professional standards throughout the programme. This includes compliance with:

  • All policies and procedures of the host organisation
  • Applicable laws and regulations in Malaysia and Australia
  • Lawgistics' reasonable directions and programme requirements
  • Standards of professional conduct expected of a law student or graduate
  • Confidentiality

During your placement you may be exposed to confidential information belonging to the host organisation or its clients. You must:

  • Keep all client and firm information strictly confidential
  • Not disclose, reproduce, or discuss confidential matters outside the firm
  • Comply with any confidentiality or non-disclosure requirements of the host organisation
  • This obligation continues after the conclusion of your placement.

    Termination and Withdrawal

Lawgistics reserves the right to withdraw a participant from a programme at any time for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Misconduct or breach of professional standards
  • Non-compliance with host organisation policies or applicable law
  • Conduct that brings Lawgistics or a host organisation into disrepute
  • Any other reasonable grounds as determined by Lawgistics
  • Participants may withdraw voluntarily, subject to the Cancellation Policy.

    Visas, Immigration and Compliance

Australian passport holders can visit Malaysia without a visa for short stays, and every traveller must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before flying. A placement can sit on a different basis from a holiday, so Lawgistics confirms the correct entry arrangement with each participant before flights are booked. Participants must follow that arrangement and give us accurate passport and travel details. If you hold a passport other than an Australian one, you must also check your own requirements.

    IMPORTANT

Lawgistics does not give immigration advice. Entry decisions are made by the Immigration Department of Malaysia, whose website is the source of truth, and acceptance into the programme does not guarantee entry.

    Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lawgistics is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from:

  • Actions or omissions of any host organisation or its staff
  • Loss of placement due to host firm changes or unavailability
  • Any personal injury, illness, or safety incident during the programme
  • Failure to obtain visa approvals or travel clearances
  • Any academic, employment, or career outcome following the programme
  • Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other non-excludable statutory protections.

    Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia.
