Lawgistics Australia – Refund & Withdrawal Policy

This policy outlines the conditions under which refunds, deferrals, and cancellations are handled for Lawgistics Australia programs.

  1. Individual Program Participants

(Where students make individual program payments)

If an individual participant withdraws from a Lawgistics program, the student or their university must notify Lawgistics in writing immediately.
The cancellation will take effect once written notice has been received and acknowledged by Lawgistics.

Refunds

Participants who voluntarily withdraw may be eligible for a refund of program fees already paid, subject to the conditions below.

In cases of extenuating circumstances, including but not limited to serious illness, incapacitation, death of a close relative, or visa refusal—fees held by Lawgistics may be partially or fully refunded, at the sole discretion of Lawgistics Australia.

Any medical-related withdrawal must be supported by documentation from a registered medical practitioner, submitted in writing for assessment. All refund decisions made by Lawgistics are final.

Lawgistics aims to act fairly and in the best interests of students while balancing commitments to host organisations and partners.

Placement Guarantee
If Lawgistics is unable to confirm a placement by the agreed cut-off date with the student or university, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.

Deposits

  • Standard program deposits are AUD $500, unless otherwise stated.

  • Deposit amounts are confirmed in the Program Offer Letter or by the relevant University Program Coordinator.

Accommodation

Accommodation deposits or payments made in advance are often non-refundable, as these funds are used to secure accommodation with third-party providers.
Accommodation providers operate under separate terms and may not be affiliated directly with Lawgistics.

Program Activities

Any events, group activities, or trips included as part of a packaged program are non-refundable if the participant chooses not to attend or is unable to participate.

Deferrals

Students may defer their program for up to 12 months from the original start date.

  • Fees will be adjusted to reflect the new program dates if applicable.

  • A student may defer no more than twice within a 12-month period.

  • All fees paid will remain credited to the student’s Lawgistics account.

If the deferred program is not undertaken within 12 months, or the student defers twice and does not proceed, the standard refund policy will apply.

2. Group Programs

(Where a university or partner organisation makes payment on behalf of students)

If a participant withdraws from a group program, the university must notify Lawgistics in writing immediately. Cancellation becomes effective once acknowledged by Lawgistics.

Universities are encouraged, where possible, to fill the vacant placement to avoid disruption to accommodation and program planning.

In cases of extenuating circumstances (including serious illness, visa refusal, or family emergencies), partial or full refunds may be considered at the sole discretion of Lawgistics Australia, subject to documentation.

If a program is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as:

  • Natural disasters

  • Government travel restrictions

  • Health or safety concerns

Lawgistics will work with the university to:

  • Relocate the program to an alternative destination, or

  • Refund program fees less any non-recoverable costs incurred to date.

3. Accommodation Deposit Refunds

Participants accommodated in apartments (commonly internship programs) must pay a refundable accommodation bond of AUD $200 prior to program commencement.

The deposit will be refunded within 14 days of departure, provided:

  • All keys and security access cards are returned

  • The apartment is left in its original condition

  • All rooms are clean and tidy

  • Rubbish is disposed of appropriately

  • Linen and towels are returned clean and unstained

Deductions may be made for:

  • Extra cleaning

  • Replacement of keys or access cards

  • Damage to fixtures, fittings, or furnishings

Final Note

Lawgistics Australia is committed to transparency, fairness and student wellbeing while maintaining strong relationships with universities and host organisations. All refund decisions are made carefully and communicated clearly.
